Solar system

We have discussed the solar system in the previous classes. The planet earth is residing in the solar system only where there are other planets and satellites revolving around the Sun. Our solar system consists of the Sun, the eight planets and more than 130 satellites of these planets, the rocky leftover of the destroyed planets- the comets and asteroids. There is a possibility that many more planetary satellites that have not been discovered by far.

The Solar system has been divided into two sections-
The inner solar system contains- The Sun, Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars

The rocky planets are - Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars.

The terrestrial planets are composed of rock and metal and have comparatively higher densities, solid surfaces, no gaseous or rocky rings and a few satellites over the other planets.

The Jovian or the Gas planets: Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.

The gaseous planets are formed from hydrogen and helium and possess low densities, fast rate of rotation may contain beautiful rings(Saturn) and high number satellites.
