We use money to buy things or services. Money can be of different forms. Nowadays we use standard money which is known as currency. Countries generally have their own distinct currency.

The Indian currency is Rupee. ₹ is the symbol of Rupee.

Important currencies:

US dollar ($)  is used in the United States of America.

Euro () is used in Europe.

Pound (£) is used in the United Kingdom.


Indian Currency: Indian currency comes in 2 formats - Notes and Coins.

Paisa: Paisa is the smallest unit.

Rupee: Rupee is the other unit.

100 Paisa=1 Rupee.

ten coins of 10 paisa=1 Rupee.

4 coins of 25 paisa=1 Rupee.

2 coins of 50 paisa=1 Rupee.


Valid notes are available for ₹1, ₹2, ₹5, ₹10, ₹20, ₹50, ₹100, ₹500 and ₹2000.

Notes for ₹1 and ₹2 are not printed anymore.

Notes for ₹1000 have been banned.

Valid coins are available for ₹1, ₹2, ₹5 and ₹10
