Blood vessels

There are three main types of blood vessels-

1. Arteries

2. Veins

3. Capillaries

Arteries-  Such vessels have thick walls to counter the great pressure exerted by the oxygenated blood from the heart to different organs of the body. There is an artery which an exception case as it carries deoxygenated blood from heat to the lungs.

Veins- Such vessels have thin walls as the flow of the deoxygenated blood carried by them is smooth from different organs to the heart. There is an exceptional case here as well, i.e Pulmonary vein which carries oxygenated blood from the lungs to the heart. 

Capillaries- Such blood vessels are the very fine extensions if arteries and veins which allow each an every cell to get proper blood supply.
